A little bit about me...

Personal: My husband, Tony, and I are long-time Batavia residents.  We have two daughters; Molly and Norah.  Tony is an adjunct professor at Benedictine University and Marion University, teaching undergraduate business classes.  He also provides customized training on servant leadership. Molly attended Columbia College in Chicago. She currrently lives in New Orleans and is part of a marketing team at the New Orleans CVB.  Norah graduated from Illinois State University; she has a bachelors degree in Social Work.  She graduated with her master's degree (MSW) in May, 2013. She and her husband live in Georgia, where she is the REACH program director at New Horizons Behavioral Health agency; her husband is currently serving in the U.S. Army.  We also have a spaniel-mix named Max and a long hair chihuahua named Tucker.  When I'm not at HCS, I like to spend time with my family, read and watch the Food Network, looking for new dinner ideas.
Professional:  I earned my bachelor's degree from Northern Illinois University in 1981.  In 2007, I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Aurora University, and in May, 2016 I completed a second Master's degree in Reading Instruction.
After graduating from NIU, I began my teaching career as a 4th, 5th and 6th grade Reading and Language Arts teacher at Mooseheart Elementary school.  Later I moved into a 3rd grade self-contained classroom.  In 1989, I left Mooseheart to stay home with my girls.  During that time I ran a desktop publishing business from my home.  I worked with local printers and businesses and was Creative/Layout Editor of Women's Fastpitch magazine.
Since 2001, I have been fortunate to be a part of the H.C. Storm community, happily teaching fourth grade. I absolutely love fourth graders!!  Aside from my time in the classroom, I have been a member of our building SLT (School Leadership Team) and the HCS Social Committee. For the past four years, I have also been our building's Appraisal Consultant.
